Track Saw / Plunge Saw
Plunge Saw, its versatile, accurate, and portable. When used with Guide Rails, track saws can do the work of a Panel saw, Table Saw or Mitre Saw.
Plunge saw are designed to be used with guide rail to get nice accurate straight/bevel cuts. It's not their only advantage. Another is as the blade is fully enclosed you get better dust extraction. Also, once the cut is made and you take the pressure off the saw it goes back up into its body fully covering the blade.
For people who work with sheet goods especially fibre cement boards, MDF, PLY and veneered sheet they are perfect. Plunge saws allow you to bring your tool to your material instead of carrying your workpieces to a stationary table saw. Simply mark your boards, lay the edge of guide rail on the mark and cut. The friction strips on the track will ensure that the track does not move. You can also clamp the tracks to the material using the Festool slide in clamps. The chip guard on the rails ensure no chipping occurs.
